SUM 41-SNAGGED BEST ALBUM WITH 'DOES THIS LOOK INFECTED?' ROCKsound.20m.com awards 2002

BEST NEWCOMER-AVRIL LAVIGNE

Anything but ordinary. That's putting it mildly when describing Avril Lavigne. A skater-punk, a dynamic spirit, a true wild child. One of those rare creatures who started wowing people with her voice and character at around age 2. A small-town kid who couldn't sit still in class but had the confidence and determination to take off, virtually on her own, to hone her songwriting skills in New York City and Los Angeles. A startlingly up-front and outrageous 17-year-old with everything it takes to reach stardom-completely on her own terms.

BEST GUITARIST-DAVE'BROWN SOUND'BAKSH (SUM41)

BEST SINGLE-RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS:BY THE WAY

Could they top 'Californication'? That was the question on everyone's lips. They superseded it and then some thanks to the opening salvo of 'By The Way'. Surely they can't keep getting better?

BEST ALBUM-SUM 41:DOES THIS LOOK INFECTED?

Formed: 1996
The latest punk rock band everyone's talkin' about is Sum 41. In the tradition of Green Day, Blink-182 and other skate/street bands - Sum 41 is making waves with their fast-driving guitars, thrashy drums, hip hop grooves and a little attitude.

The crazy Canadian 4-some from Toronto, Ontario all used to play in separate high school rival bands. They decided to join forces in 1996 and formed their own band made up of Deryck Whibley (Bizzy D) on vocals and guitar, Dave Baksh (Brown Sound) also on guitar and vocals, Steve Jocz (Stevo 32) on the drums and Cone McCaslin (Cone)

BEST ACT-FOO FIGHTERS

Dave Grohl's troops could have scooped virtually all these awards but it won't have been fair on everyone else. 'One By One' was a triumph as were their festival shows and arena tour. And what can you say about Grohl's drumming with QOTSA at Glastonbury? An hour you don't forgotten lightly

FUNNIEST MAN IN ROCK-OZZY OSBOURNE

What else can you say really? With his new fly on the wall documentary 'the osbournes' the world has seen ozzy and his family's funny side.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL FOR VOTING BECAUSE WITHOUT YOU I COULDNT MAKE THIS POLL WHAT IT IS. THERE ARE STILL A COUPLE OF PLACES TO FILL UP SO EMAIL ME WITH YOUR SUGGESTIONS.
